Privacy policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data MathVenture collects, why, and how we protect it. MathVenture is designed for children and is COPPA- and GDPR-K-compliant by design.

1. What we collect from parents

To create a parent account we collect:

• Email address (used for login and account recovery)
• Password (stored hashed — we never see your plaintext password)
• Preferred language (English or Hebrew)
• Subscription status (standard or premium)

2. What we collect for child profiles

A child profile stores only a nickname (which should not be a real name), an avatar ID, a grade level, and optionally a birth year. We deliberately do not collect first/last names, exact dates of birth, photos, voices, locations, or any other identifying information about children.

3. Game progress data

We record aggregate game progress per child profile — scores, games played, which questions were answered correctly — so parents can see learning progress. This data is linked only to the anonymous child profile, not to any personally identifying information.

4. Payment data

Paid subscriptions are not live yet, so no payment data is collected today. When billing launches it will be handled by a third-party payment provider on its own PCI-compliant infrastructure — MathVenture will never see or store your card number, CVV, or billing address, and this page will be updated to name the provider before any charge is possible.

5. Analytics and telemetry

We collect minimal server-side telemetry to keep the service healthy: request counts, error rates, and an event row per sign-in and registration linked to the parent account (never to a child). Premium narration requests are logged with the game, the language and the number of characters spoken. We do not use behavioural tracking, fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking, and we never sell data.

6. Cookies

We keep your sign-in tokens in your browser's local storage (not in a cookie) and a localStorage flag to remember your language and narration preferences. Google AdSense, which serves the ads on our free tier, may set its own cookies or similar identifiers — see "Advertising" below. We do not use analytics cookies.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

The free tier is supported by Google AdSense. Ads appear on the home screen, the catalog, game detail pages, the Learn Hub and our information pages — never inside a game. Every ad request is tagged for child-directed treatment and requests non-personalised ads only, which means ads are chosen from page context rather than from any profile of your child. Google may still set cookies or similar identifiers for frequency capping, reporting and fraud prevention; see Google's "How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services" at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising across the web at adssettings.google.com, and premium subscribers see no ads at all.

Third parties we use

We keep the list short on purpose. Google AdSense serves ads on the free tier. Google Sign-In is offered as an optional way to create a parent account. Google Fonts serves our typefaces, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads. Google Cloud Text-to-Speech generates the premium narration audio; the question text, the game and the language are sent for that purpose. Resend delivers our transactional e-mail. If you submit the bug-report form, the description you type, plus your name, contact e-mail and browser user-agent if you provide them, are e-mailed to our support address.

7. COPPA & children under 13

MathVenture is directed to children under 13. We comply with the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). A parent or legal guardian creates the account and confirms at registration that they are the parent or guardian and at least 18 years old; child profiles exist only inside a parent account. Parents can review, delete, or export any child profile and its game progress, and can refuse any further collection of their child's information, by emailing info@mathventure.io — we respond within 30 days. We do not disclose any data collected from a child to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Who we are

Age of digital consent outside the United States

COPPA sets the threshold at 13. Under the GDPR the age of digital consent is set by each EU/EEA country and ranges from 13 to 16, and the UK sets it at 13. Wherever you are, MathVenture requires a parent or guardian to create the account and to create every child profile, so consent is always given by the adult rather than the child — which satisfies the higher thresholds as well.

How long we keep data, and what happens if something goes wrong

Parent accounts and child profiles are kept for as long as the account is open. Delete a child profile and its game progress is deleted with it. Ask us to close the account and we delete the account, every child profile under it and all associated progress within 30 days. Server logs and telemetry events are kept for 12 months and then deleted. If we ever become aware of a breach affecting personal information, we will notify affected parents by e-mail, and the relevant supervisory authority where the law requires it, without undue delay and in any case within 72 hours of becoming aware of it.

Accessibility

We aim for WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Text contrast is checked against AA, every interactive control has an accessible name, the games mirror their on-canvas question into a screen-reader live region, prompts can be read aloud, and the interface works in both left-to-right and right-to-left layouts. We know the gaps: the canvas games are pointer-first and only some offer a keyboard path, and a few in-game labels are still below our 16 px minimum. If something is unusable for you or your child, write to info@mathventure.io and tell us what happened — we treat accessibility reports as bugs, not feature requests.

8. Your rights

You can review, correct, export, or delete your account and all associated child profiles at any time. Email info@mathventure.io with your request. We respond within 30 days.
