Grades 5-6 Games

Grades 5–6 math — decimals, ratios, geometry, and the bridge to pre-algebra

Fifth and sixth grade math is where elementary arithmetic finally meets the language of algebra. The games here cover decimal place value and operations, ratio and proportional reasoning, coordinate geometry, the formal study of integers (including negatives), perimeter and area of compound shapes, prime factorization and divisibility, and the first formal manipulation of algebraic expressions and equations. By the end of grade six, a child who has worked through this collection should be able to read a problem, identify the underlying mathematical structure, set up a representation (a number line, a coordinate grid, an equation), and solve — without needing the answer hand-fed to them by a worked example.

This is also the age at which kids start to develop a self-narrative about whether they are "a math person". We take that seriously. Our grade 5–6 games are designed to be challenging without being punitive: a wrong answer triggers a gentle hint, not a buzzer; a streak earns visible momentum, but a broken streak does not erase what came before. Many of the premium-tier games live in this collection because the curriculum reaches its highest density here — but every standard-tier game in this set still teaches a complete, curriculum-aligned skill on its own.
