How to play

A safari jeep rolls across the savanna and shapes pop up among the grass — circles, squares, triangles, rectangles. The narrator calls out a shape ("find a triangle!") and you tap it before it disappears into the bush. Wrong taps are forgiven; correct ones earn a photo for your safari album, which fills with shape-themed photos by the end of the trail.

What your child will learn

  • Recognize and name shapes
  • Describe shape attributes

Skills practiced

  • Visual reasoning
  • Classification

Why this age range

Designed for preschool (ages 4–5). Children younger than four sometimes don't yet have stable shape names; children older than five find the pace too gentle. The fixed shape vocabulary (about ten shapes) is the kindergarten-readiness set.

Curriculum standards

  • CCSS.MATH.K.G.A.2
  • CCSS.MATH.1.G.A.1

Notes for parents

Shape recognition is one of the earliest mathematical skills, and it does more work than most parents realise — children who can name and discriminate basic shapes confidently before kindergarten transition into geometry vocabulary much faster in grade one. Talk shape names aloud at home ("the door is a rectangle, the wheel is a circle") and you reinforce what the game teaches without any extra effort.
