How to play
Place 2D shapes onto a build area to construct objects — a house, a robot, a rocket — that match the blueprint shown beside the build pad. Each shape clicks into a slot when its name matches the target outline (rectangle, triangle, hexagon, parallelogram). Building sequences gradually introduce side-and-angle attributes, then move to area-by-counting on a unit grid. A finished structure earns a celebration animation and a new blueprint.

Why this age range
Best in grades 3–4. Younger children find the attribute reasoning frustrating; older children find the pace too gentle. Grades 3–4 are the sweet spot — they have the vocabulary for shape names but haven't yet seen formal geometric proofs, so building remains intuitive and exploratory. Estimated playtime per session is short by design.

Notes for parents
Shape Builder treats geometry as construction, not memorisation. That's deliberate. Children who learn shapes by handling them — even on a touchscreen, where they rotate and snap — internalise the names and properties far faster than children who learn shapes from a worksheet. If your child hesitates on a less-familiar shape ("trapezoid"), encourage them to describe what they see (four sides, two of them parallel) rather than guessing. That description is the mathematics.
