How to play
You're racing a go-kart and the engine wants a fuel mix in a specific ratio (3 parts blue, 1 part yellow). Drag fuel canisters onto the mixer to match the ratio, then tap the throttle to launch. Wrong ratios stall the engine and the round restarts; right ones unleash a speed boost. Ratios grow from 1:2 through complex multi-part mixtures across the rally.

Why this age range
Designed for grades 5–6 because ratios sit squarely in those years (CCSS 6.RP). The game presumes fraction fluency and basic multiplication, both of which should be solid by grade 5. Younger children can play the easiest mixtures but won't get the proportional reasoning that's the point.

Notes for parents
Ratios are usually a fifth-grade ambush — the topic feels like new territory after years of straightforward arithmetic. Ratio Rally builds on the part-whole intuition the child already has from fractions: 3:1 is the same as "three of every four canisters are blue." Pointing this out ("that's just three-quarters!") pulls ratios into the kid's existing fraction knowledge instead of treating them as a new species.
